COLOR KINETICS DEMONSTRATES FUTURE OF INTELLIGENT SOLID-STATE LIGHTING AT LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL

New York, NY - Lightfair International - April 12, 2005 - Color Kinetics Incorporated (NASDAQ: CLRK), a pioneer in the design, marketing and licensing of intelligent solid-state lighting systems and technologies, today at Lightfair International revealed a look at the future of lighting with new technologies and systems, including its newly launched IntelliWhite™ series of first-of-their-kind intelligent white solid-state lighting solutions. Color Kinetics also demonstrated optimized versions of two of its most popular offerings, ColorBlast® 12 and ColorCast™14, capitalizing on the latest LED advancements to deliver a new level of system performance with superior optics.

Guiding the Future of Intelligent White Light

Making its official Lightfair debut, Color Kinetics' IntelliWhite series combines Color Kinetics' digital control expertise with advanced white LEDs to not only replace conventional light sources in specialized applications, but to enable completely new uses of high-quality white light. IntelliWhite systems extend the inherent benefits of LEDs, including efficiency, long life, durability, and lack of radiated heat and UV emission, to white light applications, while adding intelligence to surpass the capabilities of conventional lighting. They give users greater ability to harness and control illumination as never before. IntelliWhite systems now feature enhanced optics for greater output, color mixing, and beam patterns.

The IntelliWhite series is comprised of two product categories, each featuring new innovations in LED technology: color temperature controllable products apply Chromacore® technology to produce gradients of warm to cool light from a single fixture, while fixed color dimmable products apply DIMand™ technology to allow compatibility with most standard dimmers and existing lighting environments.

Guiding the Next Generation of Power Technology

ColorBlast 12 Powercore is a new, high-performance, intelligent solid-state lighting system that applies Color Kinetics' breakthrough Powercore™ technology to accept line voltage, dramatically decreasing installation cost and complexity. ColorBlast 12 Powercore offers the versatile aesthetics, ease-of-control, and compact, rugged nature of ColorBlast 12, in the same size and form factor, with enhanced optics for increased output and no need for external power/data supplies. (See fact sheet for additional details.)

Color Kinetics developed Powercore technology to support the next generation of intelligent solid-state lighting systems, which have more complex power distribution requirements as LED technology advances and installations increase in scale. With Powercore, Color Kinetics has integrated a complete line voltage power solution into its systems, beginning with ColorCast 14, iColor Cove® MX Powercore, and now ColorBlast 12 Powercore. Systems that feature Powercore technology exhibit many practical and operational benefits, ranging from streamlined wiring and installation to integrated Power Factor Correction, which can reduce electrical expenses and improve circuit loading in a facility or installation.

Guiding the Evolution of Today's Popular Offerings

As LEDs continue to improve in performance and decrease in cost, Color Kinetics capitalizes on these advancements by continually evaluating and integrating the optimal devices in its systems. In addition to launching new products based on the latest LED technology, Color Kinetics demonstrated optimized versions of two of its existing models - ColorBlast 12 and ColorCast 14. These market-proven products have been redesigned with advanced LED technology and optics, which translates into even greater output.

ColorBlast 12 is a rugged, compact intelligent solid-state lighting system for diverse wall washing and grazing applications in dry, wet and damp environments. From exterior facades, to retail display windows, to colorfully accented signs and sculptures, ColorBlast 12 enables near-infinite lighting designs with its versatile installation capabilities and ease of control. The new version has a 350 degree locking pan and tilt mounting base with a safety tether point.

ColorCast 14 is a sleek, linear 13.5" (34.3 cm) system with maximized intensity for lighting large-scale alcoves, archways and walls in dry, wet and damp environments. It applies Powercore technology for greater operational efficiency and simplified installation, and accepts a universal power input range from100 to 240VAC, 50/60 Hz, which facilitates the installation of many units in a continuous run without the need for external power/data supplies. The new version has a tighter beam angle.
