It Takes a Complete System to Transform the Lighting Industry…
Once relegated to humble indicator signals in electronic devices, LEDs have advanced at remarkable rates to enable an entirely new category of illumination that is projected to reach $30 billion by 2025. In fact, LED-based illumination is widely considered the first breakthrough in lighting in more than a century. Yet despite their tremendous progress, LEDs alone cannot complete the lighting industry transformation. To be truly useful for illumination, LEDs must be integrated into precisely engineered systems that account for optics, high-efficiency LED drivers, thermal management and advanced power components, among other considerations.
Powercore technology broke ground as a completely new and holistic approach to power control and conversion – specifically optimized to drive LED lighting systems. It provides a means for integrating power and data management directly within LED lighting fixtures. This eliminates the need for external low-voltage power supplies and special cabling that were historically required to operate LED lighting systems. In doing so, Powercore reduces installation cost and complexity while making these fixtures far easier to use in existing lighting environments – in turn accelerating adoption of a light source with tremendous potential for energy conservation on a global scale.
In 2008 the inventor of Powercore, Ihor Lys, was named National Inventor of the Year in recognition of the technology's significant impact.
