Marina Square

Central Business District, Singapore

The newly remodeled Marina Square shopping mall features exciting new shops right in the heart of the Central Business District in Singapore. As one of the largest shopping malls in Singapore, the 700,000 square foot (65,000 square meter) space features Color Kinetics intelligent illumination to heighten the visual experience.

Project Lighting Design in Singapore was tasked to create a vivid ceiling design for visitors, and chose innovative light displays to grab the attention of shoppers. Working with CLA Singapore, they created large horn-shaped structures to protrude from the ceiling. Made out of Barrisol material, each translucent structure houses 92 units of iColor Cove – installed around the top and bottom rim. The long-life, low-maintenance nature of the compact units makes them well suited for lighting the difficult-to-access structures.

Surrounding the structures are iColor® MR g2 lamps, which are independently controlled to produce vibrant bursts of color and color-changing effects. The lamps are fitted into a custom-designed recessed mounted light fixture with a cylindrical acrylic lens.

To control the entire lighting installation, Project Lighting Design chose ColorPlay® authoring software and iPlayer® 2, a compact storage and playback system, which allows for a variety of light shows and color-changing effects to dazzle shoppers and visitors alike.
