ScotiaBank is thinking outside the box with The Cube. Its branch in the fashionable Yorkville neighborhood of Toronto now has a 16 x 16 ft, 5-sided cube of light hovering over its entrance. The cube features continuously running light shows across all of its faces, utilizing 16 million different color combinations.

The concept was envisioned by Michael R. Shakespear Miles, Senior Manager Architecture and Design at ScotiaBank. The project was first started in October 2018, and was completed in June 2019, after mock-ups, creation of a 4 x 4 ft demo cube, programming, show authoring, and commissioning of the finished product. The installation was constructed with a complete interior catwalk to allow for easy maintenance. The end result is a block of light comprised of 19,220 nodes of Color Kinetics iColor Flex MX gen2, and weighing in at 15,000 lbs.
