Energy-efficient lighting system suggests infinite possibilities

The aptly named Infinity Bridge is an engineering masterpiece. It features a 42 m (138 ft) high steel arch representing the mathematical symbol of infinity to convey Dubai’s limitless and infinite goals. Spanning 295 m (968 ft) and 15.5 m (51 ft) above Dubai Creek, the bridge accommodates 12 lanes of traffic as well as pedestrian crossings.

The objective of the bridge was to alleviate traffic congestion by connecting the Al Shindagha and Al Ras districts of Dubai with stunning infrastructure design that furthers the city’s beatification. A dynamic LED lighting system plays an important role in the design and supports Dubai’s vision of sustainability and energy efficiency.

A multicolor Color Kinetics lighting solution was selected based on our deep experience lighting iconic landmarks throughout Dubai and the rest of the world. Color Kinetics Graze Compact Powercore, IntelliHue luminaires (550 pcs), placed back-to-back along the underside of the arch and the lower edge of the bridge structure, deliver saturated colors, pastels, and high-quality white light on those features, and cast a beautiful reflection on the water below.

Color Kinetics ReachElite High Punch Powercore gen2, RGBW fixtures (150 pcs) mounted on posts light the exterior of the arch from both directions of the bridge deck.

Color Kinetics ColorReach Powercore gen2, RGBW (100 pcs) (now specified with ReachElite High Punch Powercore gen2, RGBW or ReachElite High Output Powercore, RGBW) illuminate an adjacent sign, bridge supports, and shine light on the entire bridge structure from below the bridge.

Color Kinetics Data Enabler Pro (81 pcs) supplies power and data to the fully controllable system.

Completed in 2022, the Infinity Bridge, with its stunning lighting, is an incredible addition to the list of architectural wonders in Dubai. Not only has the new landmark improved traffic flow in the city, it has become a source of pride for residents.
