Estadio Mariano Rivera gets its name from no other than Baseball Hall of Famer, Mariano Rivera. This stadium was built in Rivera’s home country, Panama, to honor his achievements and success over 19 seasons in Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees. The 10,000-seat stadium features MLB-quality seats and state-of-the-art facilities, including weight rooms and batting cages. Rivera’s goal was to give players in his native country the best possible training experience.
In June 2024, the stadium opted for a new lighting installation to bring the space to life. The goal of the lighting design was to use light to position Estadio Mariano Rivera as a major stadium comparable to the best MLB stadiums.
The design goals were to be fulfilled through the colorful illumination of the stadium facade and the addition of luminaires designated for light shows to entertain fans.
The installation features 72 Blast OptiField luminaires that provide extremely uniform light with the option of high-quality white light and saturated, even colored light in the same luminaire. The design is controlled with Color Kinetics iPlayer 3 and powered by 4 Data Enabler Pros. The luminaires used to complete the design are placed 2.6 meters apart from one another and 1.5 meters away from the structure, casting even light upon the façade.
CEO and Founder of ATP lighting, Aldo Villalaz says they chose Color Kinetics products because “they are the most famous color luminaires in the world” and offer unparalleled technology, support, and guaranty.
This installation makes history as the first illumination façade of a stadium in Central America and the Caribbean!
