Candy store builds brand with light
The first ever Peeps & Company retail store opened its doors in July 2009 in National Harbor, Maryland, offering more than just candy. The store's design — from its bright yellow awnings, chick-shaped door handles, and 3-D chick tilework behind the register to its coordinated lighting, audio, and video system — presents an immersive retail experience unlike any other.
Approximately 3,500 individually controllable iColor Flex SLX LED nodes (now specified with Flex Compact gen3, RGB) cover the ceiling and product brand displays. Additional iColor Cove QLX Powercore, iColor Cove MX Powercore (now specified with PureStyle Compact Powercore, IntelliHue), ColorGraze Powercore (now specified with ColorGraze IntelliHue Powercore), and ColorBlast Powercore LED luminaires are deployed strategically throughout the store to bathe the media wall, cash wrap, walls, and giant Peep centerpiece with brilliant, color-changing light.
A sophisticated show control system, the result of collaboration among a number of system integrators and media designers, synchronizes the store's video and lighting with themes specifically composed for the various Peeps & Company brands. The result is a truly integrated environment that transforms the store experience whenever the music changes.
