    Sustainable lighting adds nighttime character

Perth, Scotland, wanted to keep it's town center vital while maintaining a low carbon footprint. Part of this plan was to light the city center with sustainable lighting. As part of the Perth – City of Light framework, the project brief was to replace the existing lighting installation including all cabling infrastructure, metal brackets and infrastructure and luminaires with a new dynamic LED system.

A thorough survey and inspection of the existing installation took place to ensure that the new proposed metal framework and luminaires would satisfy both the weight and fixing method concerns from both the Council structures and planning departments. SEPA was engaged to ensure they had no issues with work that would be taking place over the unique fishing waters of the River Tay.

Working closely with Perth and Kinross Council and in collaboration with partners IKM and SSUK, LITE Ltd. provided a complete turnkey solution that included application support, structure and ecology, supply and installation, controls and configurations.

The project uses Color Kinetics products throughout – ColorGraze Powercore MX4, RGBW and Blast Powercore, RGBW are controlled via Pharos LPC with 3G remote access. Color Kinetics' LED luminaires provided the energy-efficiency needed to meet the sustainability goals of the project, while providing the dynamic lighting that brought nighttime character to the town's streets.
