Vinterljus is an annual winter light festival that lights up the dark Swedish late autumn, transforming the city into a cozy, warm, and welcoming space filled with light and joy.
This year’s theme was to create a fairytale world where light uses its power to enchant the city. One of the most captivating installations was “The Whispers of the Forest”, designed by Lighting designer/ programmer Jim Farula and lighting designer Razan Albunayah, in collaboration with Color Kinetics. Vinterljus is a free event organized by the Culture and Leisure Administration at Linköping Municipality.
The installation depicted an enchanted forest that actively sought connection with both people and other trees. When a visitor embraced a tree, it radiated warmth and love, symbolizing its bond with the other trees in the forest.
The Blast Powercore, RGBW luminares (15) were mounted on the trees to illuminate their trunks and branches, highlighting their natural beauty. The Flex Micro gen3, RGB strings were used to create visual signals on the main tree and between the trees, symbolizing the energy and love that spread throughout the installation. Blast Powercore luminaires were powered by 2 Data Enabler Pro units, and the Flex Micro gen3, RGB strings were powered by sPDS 480 ca 7.5V.
The lighting installation featured dynamic scenarios synchronized with music. The lighting was automatically controlled using motion sensors and an advanced control unit, providing an interactive and unique experience for visitors.
